The only powertrain available in the 2022 Kodiaq is a 2.0-liter
turbo petrol engine with a 7-speed DSG automatic
transmission. The Volkswagen Tiguan, Skoda Octavia, Skoda
Superb, Audi A4 and other vehicles use the same combination.
With 187 BHP and 320 Nm on tap, this engine has a lot of
power. The 2.0 is quite tractable and pleasurable at all speeds,
thanks to the torque available at low rpm.
If you drive at a lighter pace, the gearbox will swiftly advance
the ratios. It's eager to shift up, and you'll notice it upshifting
beneath 2,000 rpm. However, you won't notice these changes
because the transition is incredibly smooth. At city speeds, the
Kodiaq's handling is light, and the vehicle doesn't feel as large
as its measurements suggest. The Kodiaq is a joy to drive, and
you'll enjoy driving it about town.
Skoda's Dynamic Chassis Control is a significant innovation to
the 2022 Kodiaq (DCC). DCC essentially modifies the
suspension tuning by adjusting the damper settings (aka
adaptive dampers). An electromagnetic valve is installed in the
shock absorbers, which controls the flow of oil within the shock
absorbers based on the driving situation and the selected
driving mode. Simply changing the drive mode allows you to
vary between a softer and firmer suspension setting.
The digital instrument cluster may be customised to display a
variety of data and it also looks good. Then there's the
redesigned 8.0-inch touchscreen, which is smooth and quick
and now includes built-in navigation as well as wireless CarPlay
and Android Auto. There's also a wireless charging port on the
bottom. The comfortable seats are reminiscent of the previous
Kodiaq, and the sufficient support and cushioning ensure that
long hours are not an issue. Both front seats have memory
functions, and the seat ventilation and heating is a welcome
addition to this facelift.
