Rupee gains 21 paise to 74.86 against dollar in early trade

Investor sentiment was lifted on Tuesday as negative domestic equities and a weak US dollar boosted the rupee's value against the dollar. The rupee opened on a high note at 74.91 against the American dollar, then moved up 21 paise to 74.86 against the greenback.

Sensex jumps 500 points in first session; Nifty tops 17,200

Sensex rose over 500 points in early trade on Tuesday, powered by gains in index leaders TCS, Infosys, and Bajaj Finance.

In initial deals, the 30-share index was trading 504.75 points or 0.88 percent higher at 57,765.33. The Nifty also rose 149.65 points or 0.88 percent to 17,203.60.

Central Electronics bid of Rs 210 crore approved by panel

A ministerial panel on disinvestment approved Nandal Finance and Leasing Pvt Ltd's winning bid for selling 100 per cent of the government's stake in Central Electronics Ltd (CEL). The Alternative Mechanism of Nirmala Sitharaman, Nitin Gadkari, Jitendra Singh, and Nitin Gadkari approved "the highest price bid" for the strategic sale of government stake in CEL.

Future-Amazon case given two more weeks by Supreme Court

A Supreme Court bench on Monday extended by two weeks the deadline for the Competition Commission of India (CCI) to decide whether to revoke the approval granted to the Amazon-Future Group deal in 2019. Amazon also had the right to object to the Commission.

RBI to broaden the scope of digital currency in banknotes

RBI has proposed amendments to the Reserve Bank of India Act, 1934 that would allow it to launch a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC). In the current Parliament session, the government is planning to introduce a Bill on cryptocurrencies that seeks to prohibit "all private cryptocurrencies in India", with "certain exceptions".
